1. Write or paste your script.
Open Rollside Prompter, create a script and give it a title you will recognise. Write directly in the app or paste your text, review it and save it to your library. Paragraph breaks make a spoken script easier to scan.
The free library holds up to three saved scripts. The optional one-time Pro purchase expands that library to unlimited scripts; it is not required to use Voice follow.
2. Start with timed scrolling.
Open the script in the reader and choose a comfortable speed. Use the countdown if you need a moment before speaking. Play, pause and restart as you rehearse; the best pace is one that leaves room to breathe and look up.
An optional rehearsal target from 30 seconds to ten minutes shows progress and time remaining. It does not override the scrolling mode.
3. Make the reader comfortable.
Adjust text size, line spacing, side padding and reading width. Reading focus and cue marks help you track the active line. Choose background and text colours with enough contrast for the light where you will present.
Portrait and landscape are supported. Rotate the phone to suit your stand or recording setup. Use mirror mode when a compatible teleprompter reflector needs mirrored text. Rehearse with the actual equipment before recording.
4. Check Voice follow requirements.
Voice follow needs iOS 18 or later, a supported iPhone and an available on-device speech language. It requires microphone permission and, on iOS 18–26, Speech Recognition permission. A language-model download may be needed.
Speech is processed on your iPhone and audio is not saved. Voice follow pauses when you stop speaking. Timed scrolling remains an alternative when the local recogniser is unavailable.
If Voice follow is unavailable
Check the app’s permission requests and your iPhone’s settings for Rollside Prompter. Check the selected speech language and any required on-device download. Availability can depend on the device, language and Apple speech service; buying Pro does not unlock an unavailable recogniser.
If it still will not start, use timed scrolling and contact Prompter support with the exact message, your iPhone model and iOS version. Keep the app up to date through the App Store. If an issue continues, the exact message helps us check your device and language setup.
5. Test an optional remote.
Compatible keyboard-style Bluetooth remotes and foot pedals can control playback, page jumps and timed speed. Use Remote controls settings to learn the buttons. Compatibility depends on which key events iOS delivers, so test each assigned action before presenting.
6. Record with your camera setup.
Prompter displays the words; it does not record video. Use your camera app or filming equipment to capture the take. Your scripts and reader settings stay on the iPhone, and you can read and edit offline.
